ELIMINATE SINGLE-USE PLASTICS

Eliminate single-use plastics wherever possible. Purchase zero waste alternatives. Here is a company we purchase home cleaning and body care products from that we really like. They are the same costs or less and are good for the environment. We especially like their dish soap bar.  https://notoxlife.com/

Drink beverages from a reusable Hydroflask. Do not drink bottled water. Choose to filter water instead if you water is unsafe from the tap. If ordering coffee from a coffee shop, always bring your own cup!

SUPPORT LOCAL FARMERS

Eat local sustainable meat and vegetable products. We have so many wonderful CSA programs on the Big Island, it is easy to get local sustainably raised food. Eating local reduces your carbon footprint and supports our island ohanas' ability to live and thrive in this remote place.

If you not local to Big Island check with your local farmers and sign up for their CSA’s.

Always wear reef-safe sunscreen

Always wear reef-safe sunscreen. Chemical sunscreens harm coral reproduction and cause coral mortality to our coral reefs that are already in distress. Here are three companies we recommend:
